One of the great masters of Italian advertising graphics, and one of the most renowned and admired individuals and signatures of this art-form and of illustrations generally.
The majority of his work was carried out for the Anonima Grandine subsidiary in Milan. The backdrop to this advert is an image of rural life, represented by the smiling farming family, relaxed in the knowledge that their harvest is insured.
Moving to Milan at a very young age, he was able to make a name for himself by collaborating with ateliers and fashion magazines in the mid-1920s, and by working for a time at the Mauzan-Morzenti design studio founded by Achille Lucien Mauzan, the famous French poster designer.
Boccasile reached widespread popularity in 1937 with his “Miss Grandi Firme” figure, designed for the cover of Pitigrilli’s Le Grandi Firme magazine.
